Especially for those in technology, typical 9 -to-5 schedule is dead. Developers now require flexible hours and remote work options. But how a manager can ensure productivity and to meet deadlines when we do work together?
To understand the best way to handle this new reality, I asked new business owners YEC question:
What is the best way to handle scheduling when the majority of your team works different hours (and in different places)?

The most cost-effective way to manage IT teams looking flexible schedules is to make contract workers based projects, as opposed to hourly employees. Although research has shown that people working at home generally work more hours in a week, it is also essential to have your team connected during business hours. This format does not work for everyone; some employees simply can not handle a lot of freedom. Design a system that makes it clear that the work must be completed and tie their pay structure so that there is little chance for anyone to dodge their responsibilities. - Nicole Munoz, Start Ranking Now
2. Hire people You Trust
You have to hire people you trust will do what it takes to do the job. I find with people really reliable, we do care about hours. Furthermore, flexibility at the margins is useful - to create a way to plan overlaps in the day so that both parties can win. Have set meetings helps a lot to create expectations. - Zachary Johnson, syndio
3. Communicate your expectations
Definition of methods and communication time and ensures that the project team are on the right way. I found the best approach to flex scheduling is to establish inflexible rules. Have a calendar or daily scrum project timing, enforce the use of a text-based communication tool (like Slack or HipChat) that everyone can easily communicate synchronously or asynchronously, and make sure lead your team checks with every team member throughout the day. By putting these good flexible scheduling becomes an asset. Engineers will deliver most of their time compared to being in an office 9 am to 17 hours - Philippe Clavel, Rabbit
4. Offer a rolling start
Everyone in our company has the opportunity to come to work on a rolling start. My employees can come to work at any time between 8 and 9 : 30 am For example, if they come in at 8 hours , they go to 17:00 ultimately, there would be an hour and a half segment where technical team not work together. - Jayna Cooke, EVENTup
5. Apply weekly Milestones
Set weekly milestones. Give them guidelines and perhaps a whiteboard so that they can coordinate their activities for better productivity. If they fail to reach the milestones, be clear to them that flexible times disappear. I do not want to keep the kids and let people be adults. I lead the process with steps and make sure that we reach them. I just let some flexibility in how my team members. - Joshua Lee, StandOut Authority
6. Set base hours and communication tools
We have instituted basic hours. The employees are in the office or on-line at least of 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. , apart from that, they can start early or work late. This gives us at least six hours overlap for engineers, and all meetings are scheduled during this period. We also ensure that we have the necessary communication tools so that he feels like all employees are sitting next to each other. And above all, we hope that everyone will do their job and the flexibility decreases. - Tracey Wiedmeyer, InContext Solutions
7. Separate Time Meeting of availability and working hours
It is a good practice to require Member team to be available for meetings during office hours. You can adjust office hours depending on your preference. For example, you may want a traditional 9 am to 17 hours , or you can reduce it to 10:00-14 hours Take time to compulsory desktop and let the team members work sometimes preferred outside this window. - Adam Roozen, Echidna, Inc.
8. Set Clear Roadmaps
If employees have clear objectives and roadmaps, they are less dependent on others to do their job. This allows flexible times and does not require co-location and schedules overlap. For example, in software development, developers typically work in sprints where their work is clearly stated in the form of wireframes before the sprint begins. While sprinting goes, they have clarity on expectations and can work independently without losing productivity. - Pratham Mittal, VenturePact
9 . Get everyone together one day a week
Found with Monday morning as a time when the full team meets (in person or remotely) to be a key to solving this challenge. These meetings set the tone for the week and keep all team members on the same page. From there, we trust our people to work with the appropriate level of urgency and achieve their goals. If something is not working well, we know Monday is a time we can recalibrate. Our in-house messaging tools like Slack help with check-ins when something urgent happens. - Ross Cohen, BeenVerified
