Payments are difficult. Square, PayPal and others are still trying to make you pay with your phone. Google Wallet and Pay Apple have and will try to get NFC finally take off. Meanwhile, chip and PIN cards are coming to the United States. Yes, payments are more than difficult, it is a mess.
The new plastc payment card would potentially take all of these payment systems and push them into a single entity credit card format that supports magnetic card readers, Chip and PIN, NFC, RFID and QR codes. It has a touch screen E-ink and connects to the companion iOS and Android app Wallet. It is like the map of Coin crowd-sourced, but with more features already integrated.

The machine can hold up to 20 cards that can be switched on the fly but are protected by a PIN -Wide system. The card also uses Bluetooth Low Energy to connect to your phone and sync maps but also to alert you when you leave the card behind. After a preset time period the card erases all stored map data and displays the service number Customer plastc. Once you get the card it starts synchronizing all data wiped back to the map without having to go through the set up process again.
The card holds a charge for 30 days and can be recharged via a wireless charging mat included. To prolong the life of the battery of a light sensor is built so that when in your wallet or handbag black screen remains blank. When out of your wallet or purse, it turns the display.
In addition, in partnership with Bank of America, Citibank, American Express, Chase, Charles Schwab, US Bank and Wells Fargo, the card will be able to show your balance on the screen. Need to see if you have enough in your account to buy that fancy new computer or boat shoes?
A disadvantage is that, when ships cards, so it has the hardware for NFC Chip and PIN and integrated, will be activated at the launch. Instead, there will be a firmware update at the end of 2015.
Always map and look impressive technology. Plastc but did not have a prototype for me to see at a meeting here and the images are made. I did see a video screen in action within a model of the card and their manufacturing plans seem solid.
